Insect Abundance In a grassland near York University

Method: Three group members were involved in collecting the data of insect abundance. A catching net, a measuring tape and a timer were used during the experiment. The measuring tape was placed on the grassland to indicate a transect distance of 5 meters, then a member would walk along that path waving the catching net violently through the grass for exactly one minute and observe for any insects caught in the net after. The insects caught in this experiment mainly consisted of spiders, ants, mosquitoes, beetles and grasshoppers. The experiment was repeated 10 times. Condition: Experiemnt was conducted around 2:30 PM Wednesday September 30th, partly cloudy and the temperature was approximately 20 degrees celsius.

实验方法：本次昆虫种群丰度数据采集工作由三名小组成员完成。实验过程中使用了捕虫网、卷尺与计时器。首先将卷尺铺设于草地以划定5米长的样带，随后一名小组成员沿该路径行走，在草丛中猛烈挥动捕虫网，时长恰好为一分钟，之后观察网内捕获的昆虫。本次实验捕获的昆虫主要包括蜘蛛、蚂蚁、蚊子、甲虫与蝗虫。实验共重复开展10次。
实验条件：本次实验于9月30日周三下午约2:30进行，天气为多云间晴，环境温度约为20摄氏度。
