Health care behaviour in Townsville, 1978

A survey of residents in the city of Townsville and shire of Thuringowa collected information on consumer health care behaviour, satisfaction with health services and general health characteristics of the population. Respondents were questioned on their own health, their use and awareness of health services, characteristics of their last medical consultation, diet, fitness and their use of alcohol, cigarettes, painkillers, tranquillisers and stimulants. First aid knowledge was also tested. Background variables included age, sex, marital status, occupation and education of respondent and other family members, income, religion, place of birth, family size, political preference and duration of residence in the community.
