Quercus virginiana cultivar:Toomer's Oak Genome sequencing and assembly

Quercus virginiana (subg. Quercus sect. Virentes), the Southern Live Oak, is a species of cultural and ecological importance in the southeastern United States. As part of the first American Campus Tree Genomes (ACTG) Project cohort, a clone of the original Q. virginiana 'Toomer's Oak' was sequenced in memorial of the iconic tree on Auburn University's campus that died after being poisoned with Spike 80DF in 2010.

弗吉尼亚栎（Quercus virginiana，subg. Quercus sect. Virentes），俗称南方活栎，是美国东南部兼具重要文化与生态价值的树种。作为美国校园树木基因组（American Campus Tree Genomes, ACTG）计划的首批研究队列成员，研究人员对原始弗吉尼亚栎‘图默橡树’（Toomer's Oak）的一株克隆进行了测序，以此纪念奥本大学校园内那棵2010年被Spike 80DF毒杀的标志性古树。
