In 2024, Marlboro was by far the most valuable tobacco brand in the world, with a brand value of more than 32.6 billion U.S. dollars. L&M, which ranked second, had a brand value of just under 6.2 billion U.S. dollars that year. Smoking has, however, become less common in the United States over the past few decades: between 2000 and 2018, the number of smokers has decreased by almost ten percent.
