STUDYING THE ENVIRONMENT OF LOW LUMINOSITY AGN

Recent observations point out that Lowluminosity active galactic nuclei, suchLINERs and low power Seyfert galaxies, might have a different torusconfiguration compared to more powerful AGNs. The shape of the Compton humpobserved above 10 KeV is an excellent tool to study the geometry and thephysical features of the reflector. The purpose of this proposal is study a lowpowered (L/LEdd sim 10^5) Seyfert galaxy NGC 5033, to study the characteristicsof the material surrounding the SMBH. We ask for observations with NuSTAR andXMMNewton to study the relation between the accretion rate and properties ofthe reflector (torus covering fraction and column density) and to compare withexisting, similar quality data of a LINER with equal black hole mass and accretion rate. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
