X-RAY EMISSION FROM FILAMENTARY RADIO RELICS & MERGERS IN CLUSTERS OF GALAXIES
收藏资源简介:
We propose to observe the two Abell clusters of galaxies A13 and A4038 in whichwe have identified filamentary radio relic sources. Sensitive XMMNewton EPICobservations will allow us to detect an excess thermal Xray emission componentthat may result from hydrodynamical activities associated with the relicstructure as well as inverse Compton emission produced when the samerelativistic electrons which produce the radio relic emission scatter CosmicMicrowave Background photons. These radiation components will be detected byXMMNewton spatially, by finding Xray structures which agree with the radiostructures, and spectroscopically by the additional spectral features mixed withthe thermal emission of the intracluster medium. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
