The DREAL PACA operates a network of hydrometric stations whose objective is the general knowledge of watercourses.
A hydrometric station is an apparatus installed on a watercourse from which a hydrometric quantity (usually water heights, flow velocities) is measured to allow the measurement of changes in stream levels and the continuous assessment of the flow rate. The data collected over a large number of years make it possible to know the stream (crues, low) at the measuring station and to extrapolate to the sites not monitored.

DREAL PACA运营着一套水文监测站网络，其核心目标是全面掌握区域河道的基本情况。水文监测站是安装于河道之上的监测设备，可通过其测定各类水文参数（通常包含水位、流速），以此实现河道水位变化的监测，并持续评估河道流量。通过多年积累的监测数据，既可掌握监测站点处的河道水文状况（如洪水、枯水情况），还可将监测结果外推至未设置监测站点的区域。
