Data and supplementary materials for "Meta-analysis on Meditation and Smartphone addiction<b>"</b>
收藏资源简介:
Smartphone addiction has emerged as a growing behavioral concern associated with physical, psychological and social difficulties, particularly among adolescents and young population. Meditation based practices are increasingly proposed as a potential strategy to regulate problematic smartphone use, yet empirical evidence remains fragmented. This meta-analysis synthesized findings from RCTs and quasi experimental studies to examine effect of meditation based interventions in reducing smartphone addiction. This review was prospectively registered with PROSPERO(CRD420251162323). Eight eligible studies, including five RCTs and three quasi experimental studies were identified. All interventions involved structured meditation practices and smartphone addiction was assessed using validated questionnaires. Random effects meta-analysis indicated significant reduction in smartphone addiction following meditation interventions in RCTs (SMD=-0.67, 95% CI = -1.31 TO -0.03, P=0.04)) and Quasi experimental studies (SMD=-0.33, 95% CI = -0.64 TO -0.01, P=0.04). Substantial heterogeneity was observed among RCTs (Q4=24.47, p<0.0001), but not significant among quasi Experimental studies (Q2=0.97, p=0.62). Meditation based intervention demonstrate a modest but significant effect in reducing smartphone addiction, though evidence remains limited by small sample sizes, methodological variability and emerging research in this area.
