A detailed study of the physical properties of Ce₂Sb and Ce₂Bi single crystals was conducted, where antiferromagnetic transitions occur at approximately 8.2 K and 10 K, respectively. When the applied magnetic field is parallel to the c-axis, a metamagnetic phase transition is observed at low temperatures, which corresponds to the field-induced phase transition. The field-induced transition is found to be second-order at higher temperatures and first-order at low temperatures, indicating the presence of tricritical points (TCPs) in both compounds. Since substituting Bi with Sb suppresses TCPs and lowers the transition temperature, corresponding to positive chemical pressure, these results suggest that applying pressure to Ce₂Sb may also suppress TCPs and lower the transition temperature, potentially reaching a zero-temperature quantum tricritical point.
