Study of a sample of X-ray bright AGN with low black hole masses

Lowmass black hole (LMBH) with masses of < 10^6 M_sun are important in studiesof black hole physics and cosmology, but little is known about LMBH as apopulation due to their rarity, especially in the Xray band. We propose toobserve with XMM a well defined, Xray bright sample of AGN with the low blackhole masses estimated from the virial method, which are discovered in our recentwork. XMM will enable detailed studies of Xray spectral and temporal propertiesfor such objects both individually and as a sample extending up to 10keV energyrange, and will double the size of LMBH AGN with high S/N Xray spectra to abouttwo dozens. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
