The X-ray nuclei of radio-loud AGN from the 2Jy sample

Xray observations of AGN samples provide crucial information about both the AGNthemselves and the material that obscures them. Understanding the properties ofthe active nuclei of radioloud AGN is particularly vital given that theseobjects seem likely to have a key role in models of galaxy formation andevolution. The 2Jy sample of radio galaxies and quasars has uniquely goodmultiwavelength data, but until recently has been poorly studied in the Xray.We have recently been awarded time to observe all the lowz 2Jy steepspectrumsample with Chandra, and here propose short observations of the highz half ofthe sample with XMM which will give us a complete picture of the nuclearactivity in these objects, and allow a wide range of projects to be carried out. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
