The X-ray luminosty - rotation measure relation in clusters of galaxies

A powerful tool to learn about the connection of magnetic field and intracluster gas density and temperature is the relation between the Xrayluminosity and the Faraday rotation measure. We propose to perform a combinedXray/radio analyis of the cluster Abell 514 to determine this relation withhigh accuracy and measure its temperature dependence. The determination of thedynamical state of this merger clusters with an extremely disturbed Xraymorphology by means of a temperature map is the second major goal of thisobservation.
