Individual data set from the monitoring – reporting year 2021

The monitoring serves the preventive health protection of consumers. With its help, health risks to consumers can be identified at an early stage by the substances found in and on food, cosmetics and consumer goods and, where appropriate, by targeted measures. Monitoring is carried out on the basis of Sections 50-52 of the Food and Feed Code (LFGB) as an independent legal task within the framework of official surveillance. The selection of products is carried out in accordance with the requirements of § 6 of the General Administrative Regulation for the implementation of the monitoring of foodstuffs, cosmetics and consumer goods (AVV Monitoring). It is based on the long-term concepts agreed between the federal and state governments for obtaining sound data for risk assessment. The food to be examined is part of a representative basket derived on the basis of national consumption studies (cart monitoring). In addition, some of the food tests have been carried out in projects since 2003 (project monitoring). In this context, current material and food-related questions are addressed in a target-oriented manner in order to close gaps in knowledge for the risk assessment. In the case of cosmetics and consumer goods, the monitoring of selected product groups focuses on examinations of elements, organic substances or microorganisms.
