Fuel combustion values; energy carrier

This table shows the combustion values of the fuels used in the Netherlands. These are motor fuels for transport and other customers such as construction and agriculture. In addition, the fuels used to generate electricity. The chemical composition of petrol and diesel has changed significantly over the years. The ban on lead used replacement octane-increasing additives with a different combustion value. The introduction of mandatory blended biofuels has further changed the combustion value of motor fuels for road transport. In motor petrol and diesel sold to the pump in the Netherlands, a mandatory amount of biofuels has been mixed. The Dutch legislation stipulates that since 2007 part of the total consumption of petrol and diesel for transport must consist of renewable energy, the so-called blending obligation. Data available: Since 1990. Status of the figures: All figures up to and including 2019 reporting year are final. Figures for 2020 and 2021 are further preliminary.
