CENTRALLY-CONCENTRATED ENERGY SOURCES IN LINER ULTRALUMINOUS INFRARED GALAXIES

We propose XMM observations of two LINERtype ultraluminous infrared galaxiesfor which our infrared 34 micron slit spectroscopy has revealed the presenceof centrallyconcentrated energy sources, as is expected for a buried AGN. Themain goal is to obtain direct Xray evidence that the centrallyconcentratedenergy sources are indeed buried AGNs (strong 210 keV Xray emitter), and notunusually centrallyconcentrated starbursts (weak Xray emitter).
