Pilot Study of RV Tau Variables\: A new class of X-ray emitting starsquestionMark

We aim to determine the frequency and characteristics of Xray emission from RVTau variables stars. Only one RV Tau variable star has been targeted by modernX ray observatories and its detected Xray emission is surprising and difficultto understand. We request 140 ks to study a pilot sample of four RV Tau variablestars in order to establish if Xray emission is ubiquitous amongst theseluminous and pulsating stars. The requested observations would determine thecharacteristics of any Xray emission and help identify the origin of the Xrayemission.
