A cdt positive bacteria was isolated from a diarrheic children in Japan and identified as P. rustigianii which was named as strain JH-1. The cdt gene was found to be located on the plasmid of strain JH-1. This is the first report of detecting any virulence determinants in P. rustigianii. Thus, whole genome sequencing was performed to characterize the virulence potential of the strain JH-1.
