Unraveling the Dynamical States of Abell 2345 and 2254

Of the clusters hosting the 30 brightest radio halos and relics, only A2345 andA2254 have not been observed by XMM, Chandra, or Suzaku. The ROSAT HRI images ofthese clusters suggest significant substructure, almost certainly due to recentmergers. We will detect merger shocks in both clusters and a cold front inA2345, if they are present. The temperature structure in the core of bothclusters will be mapped. For A2345, we will determine the ICM temperature at thelocation of its relics and detect surface brightness discontinuities due toshock fronts, which will test the shock acceleration model for producing radiorelics.
