An XMM Study of Low-Activity Coronal Stars of 1-2 Solar Masses

We propose observing solarmass stars having Xray luminosities similar to the Sun.s so as to determine the thermal structure andelemental abundances Z characteristic of such lowactivity. coronae,observations of which are very underrepresented in the XMM GTOProgram. We have selected 3 stars of different surface gravities(Tau Cet, Beta Hyi and Beta Gem) so that we can compare the coronalproperties as a function of g. We will utilise the H and Helikelines of abundant elements such as O, Ne, Mg, and Si, as well as theFe L complex lines between 0.7 and 1.5 keV, and the continuumemission in other spectral regions to derive T and Z. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
