Eggplant is the second important Solanaceous berry-producing crop after tomato. A pan-genome using the map-to-pan strategy has been developed, based on resequencing data of accessions belonging to the Eggplant clade (S. melongena, the direct wild ancestor S. insanum L. and S. incanum (the sister of eggplant and its wild ancestor)), as well as the cultivated scarlet (S. aethiopicum) and gboma eggplant (S. macrocarpon), both belonging to the sister Anguivi grade.
