Transition metals impurities of Chromium in soil and of Iron in volcanic ashes respectively will be probed and characterized via XAS in order to understand their relative oxidation states as both Cr(VI) and Fe(II) potential presence in the two types of soil could lead to environmental pollution and health problems.
