In this study, we generated annual blue and green water consumption volumes for 15 major crops across China at a spatial resolution of 1 kilometer. Initially, we estimated daily blue and green water consumption for crops at the site scale by incorporating more localized input parameters via a dynamic water balance model. Subsequently, we developed a spatial prediction model for crop water demand based on the random forest algorithm. The resultant maps show high correlations with in-situ observations from field stations and statistical data, and exhibit distinct advantages over existing datasets spanning various spatial scales.
