HURDAT2 Tropical Cyclone Database in an Analysis-Ready Format

A harmonized tropical cyclone database derived from NOAA HURDAT2 best-track data, obtained from the NOAA National Hurricane Center (NHC) data archive: NOAA NHC Data Archive The dataset provides analysis-ready storm track observations, cyclone characteristics, event flags, and derived metrics (e.g., Accumulated Cyclone Energy, ACE) in standardized CSV and Parquet formats for climatological and impact studies. The database includes tropical cyclone observations for the North Atlantic (AL), East Pacific (EP), Central Pacific (CP), and a combined East–Central Pacific product (EP-CP). Variables include cyclone identifiers, storm type, intensity, pressure, location, event flags, Saffir–Simpson category, and per-observation ACE contribution. A detailed README file is included with metadata, variable descriptions, and usage notes. This first release (2026) provides an analysis-ready reformulation of HURDAT2 in a harmonized tabular format intended to facilitate climatological, statistical, and impact-related studies.
