ALAN Europe 2016–2023 — Per-polygon annual metrics for European coastal zones (Land, Sea 1 km, Sea 1 nm) with Natura 2000 and CZ-CLC attributes

This dataset provides per-polygon, per-year metrics of Artificial Light At Night (ALAN) for European coastal zones from 2016 to 2023, derived from VIIRS VNL annual composites (units: nW·cm⁻²·sr⁻¹). Each record corresponds to one polygon in a given year and includes attributes to support management-oriented analyses across land–sea gradients and protection status. Geographic/semantic coverage Coastal domains: Land, Sea 1 km, Sea 1 nm (contiguous belts). Conditions: Natura vs Non-Natura (Natura 2000 adjacency for the Land domain). Stratification: MSFD sub-regions, country, CZ-CLC (Levels I & II).
