National Identity and Basic Information Survey Dataset of Residents in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (with Statistical Indicators and Demographic Information)

This dataset is generated based on structured questionnaires, aiming to investigate the national identity and related social attitudes of citizens and residents in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Macao Special Administrative Region of China. A 5-point Likert scale (1-5 points) was adopted for data collection, covering 56 questions across multiple dimensions including national belonging, cultural identity, attitudes towards immigration policies, and evaluations of democracy and economic development. The questionnaires were distributed via online and offline channels, with respondents including college students from Guangdong Province of mainland China, Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR. A total of 66 records were collected: "National Identity Score Total.xlsx" contains 36 sets of questionnaire scoring data, and "Information Results.xlsx" contains 30 sets of demographic information data. Data entry and preliminary processing were completed using Microsoft Excel, including total score calculation (full score: 265 points), decile standardization transformation, and standard deviation analysis. Statistical indicators were automatically generated via formulas. This dataset focuses on recent years in terms of temporal and spatial scope, with geographic coverage including Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and individual-level spatial resolution is categorized by household registration status. In the questionnaire data sheet, each row represents a respondent (e.g., YA01, B01, etc.), and column headers from B to BH correspond to 56 ordered rating questions, such as "Are you Chinese?" and "Pride in the functioning of democracy". Columns BI to BL list the total score, average score, standardized score, and deviation. The demographic information sheet includes interview ID, household registration address, gender, job title, and years of residence in mainland China (in years). Each dataset was analyzed using NVivo 12 qualitative analysis software, with no data excluded. Manual input deviations may lead to errors. The data files are in Excel format (.xlsx) and can be opened using Microsoft Excel or compatible tools (e.g., WPS, LibreOffice). After enabling the formula function, full analysis of statistical indicators can be performed. This dataset has been anonymized and is suitable for cross-regional comparisons in social sciences, analysis of influencing factors of national identity, and research on policy attitudes.
