Comprehensive transcriptome assembly was generated for the Cannabis plant species. Differential gene expression analysis identified genes preferentially expressed in different tissues and across various developmental stages of female flower development. The study provides a significant resource in cannabis for further research of functional genomics to improve the yield of specialised metabolites with high pharmacological value.
