Oceans are one of the largest ecosystems on Earth, exerting a critically important influence on the survival of species worldwide. However, in recent years, the marine environment has faced severe pollution issues that pose immense threats to both marine ecosystems and human health, a situation that is particularly prominent in coastal waters. Coastal seawater quality serves as a critical indicator for assessing the ecological and environmental quality of coastal marine areas. In recent years, with the continuous advancement of the "Beautiful Bay" protection and construction initiative, the water quality of China's coastal waters has remained stable while improving steadily. According to reports from relevant authorities, in 2021, areas with seawater quality meeting national Grade I and Grade II standards accounted for 81.3% of China's coastal waters throughout the year, areas with Grade III seawater accounted for 5.2%, and areas with Grade IV and inferior Grade IV seawater accounted for 13.5%. The water quality of some river estuaries and coastal gulfs that empty into the sea still needs further improvement.
