The reaction of the dichlorocyclodiphosphazane (also called dichlorodiazadiphosphetidine), [ClP(μ-NtBu)]2, with in situ generated ferrocene dilithiate in a 1:1 molar ratio affords the first metallocene derivative of a diazadiphosphetidine, 1,3-di-tert-butyl-2,4-bis(cyclopentadienyl)iron(II) 1,3,2,4-diazadiphosphetidine, [Fe(η5-C5H4)2(PNtBu)2], in good yield.
