Measurement, Road Weather Information Stations

This data feed provides information about weather conditions along Danish roads based on measurements from automatic road weather stations. The data is collected by the Danish Meteorological Institute for use in the Danish Road Directorate's road weather system (VejVejr). The stations are frequently located along roadsides and directly with sensors that measure both atmospheric conditions and road conditions. This dataset contains dynamic measurement data. The metric index of where a measurement is taken at a station. Index 0 refers to atmospheric measurements. Index values 1 to 6 refer to measurements taken in or on the road. If a station has more than one measurement point, the same type of measurement may appear multiple times with different index values. The measurements available for each station depend on the equipment installed, and this may change over time. The data feed may include the following measurement types: • Road temperature: Temperature of the road surface. Value: Floating points (°C). Index: 1 to 6. • Air temperature: Temperature of the air above the surface. Value: Floating points (°C). Index: 0. • Dew point temperature: Dew point temperature. Value: Floating points (°C). Index: 0. • Relative humidity: Relative humidity as a percentage. Value: Integer (%). Index: 0. • Road surface condition: State of the road (OTHER, DRY, MOIST, WET, SURFACE_WATER, FREEZING_OF_WET_ROADS, SNOW, ICE, RIME, SLUSH_ON_ROAD, BLACK_ICE). Value: Enumeration. Index: 1 to 6. • Water film thickness: Thickness of the water layer on the road surface. Value: Floating point (mm). Index: 1 to 6. • Freezing point temperature: Temperature at which freezing occurs on the road. Value: Floating points (°C). Index: 1 to 6. • Salt amount: Amount of salt (de-icing agent) on the road. Value: Floating points (g/m²). Index: 1 to 6. • Wind speed (average for 10 minutes): Measured wind speed. Value: Floating points (m/s). Index: 0. • Wind gusts (average for 10 minutes): Maximum wind speed in gusts. Value: Floating points (m/s). Index: 0. • Wind direction (average for 10 minutes): Direction of the wind, in degrees (0° = North). Value: Integer (Compas). Index: 0. • Gust direction (average for 10 minutes): Direction of wind gusts, in degrees. Value: Integer (compas). Index: 0. • Precipitation: Type of precipitation (NO_PRECIPITATION, UNKNOWN, DRIZZLE, RAIN, SLEET, SNOW, CLEAR_ICE, HAIL, FREEZING_RAIN, ICE_PELLETS). Value: Enumeration. Index: 0. • Precipitation intensity: Rate of precipitation. Value: Floating point (mm/h). Index: 0. • Visibility: Horizontal visibility distance. Value: Floating points (m). Index: 0. • Subsurface temperature: Temperature of the road at a depth of 5 cm. Value: Floating points (°C). Index: 1 to 6. • Air pressure: Atmospheric pressure. Value: Floating points (hPa). Index: 0. • Friction: Coefficient of friction on the road surface. Value: Floating points. Index: 1 to 6. • Ice percentage: Percentage of ice coverage on the road surface. Value: Floating points (%).
