Transcriptome sequencing of two sugarcane cultivars in response to borer attack (D. saccharalis)

This project aims to analyze the transcriptional profiles of Brazilian sugarcane cultivars RB867515 and SP80-3280 in response to borer infestation. These cultivars were chosen based on their susceptibility to the borer attack. In general terms, RB867515 is characterized by relatively low survival of early-stage larvae feeding on leaves and is known to be more resistant in field conditions. Conversely, SP80-3280 is more susceptible in the field and is characterized by lower mortality of early-stage larvae feeding on leaves, allowing then more larvae to penetrate the stalks.
