Using mouse model, acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples and xenografts, Sheng et al show that Foxm1 loss or inhibition significantly impairs the maintenance of human and mouse MLL-fusion -driven LSCs in vivo by promoting cycling and inducing apoptosis of leukemia stem cells (LSCs). Targeting FOXM1 suppresses disease progression in patient AML xenograft models.
