Scenic Byways in Kentucky

This feature layer represents designated scenic byways within Kentucky that are nationally recognized for their outstanding scenic, historic, cultural, natural, recreational, or archaeological qualities. The dataset is derived from Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) road centerlines and reflects roadways selected by KYTC’s Office of Local Programs for their unique value. These byways are part of the state’s Primary Road System and meet the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) guidelines. While designation encourages preservation, restoration, and enhancement of the roadway and right-of-way, it does not prevent KYTC from making necessary transportation improvements.
