Unveiling the nature of newly discovered X-ray pulsators

In the largest ever systematic search in soft Xrays for coherent periodicitiesabout 440,000 light curves of sources serendipitously detected by the Swift XRay Telescope (XRT) and the Chandra Advanced CCD Imaging Spectrometer (ACIS) wehave discovered so far (the project is still ongoing) about 40 new Xraypulsators. In this proposal we ask for XMMNewton followups for four of them,which either show unusual properties or their properties are suggesting thepresence of an accreting neutron star. The requested observations will allow usto unveil their nature and test magnetic gating accretion scenario towards lowfluxes, a regime which has remained poorly explored so far. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
