VPRS 9612 Minute Books (Rural Water Corporation Board of Directors)

These four volumes recorded the minutes of meetings of the Rural Water Corporations Board of Directors. The series commenced when the Rural Water Corporation was established in 1992 to replace the Rural Water Commission. The Governments goal in establishing the new agency was to make it self-funding rather than a burden on the Treasury. Minutes of meetings of the Rural Water Commissions Board of Management, 1984 - 1992, were recorded in VPRS 9610/P1 Minute Books (Rural Water Commission Board of Management).The Rural Water Corporations Board of Directors consisted of a Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson, the Managing Director of the Rural Water Corporation and up to four others. Board members other than the Managing Director were appointed by the Minister for Water Resources. The Managing Director of the Corporation was appointed by the Board.The Board decided the broad policies and strategies to be followed by the Corporation, such as corporate planning, financial planning and reviewing operational performance. It did not become involved in day to day administrative and operational matters, these being the province of the Corporations Managing Director.
