PacBio full-length 16S rRNA raw sequencing data from the study: The effect of daily oral probiotic and postbiotic supplementation on the canine skin microbiota

This dataset contains raw PacBio HiFi long-read fastq files of full-length 16S rRNA gene sequences derived from skin swab samples (axillae and inguinal regions) of 12 healthy golden retrievers. Samples were collected as part of a longitudinal study at Day 0, Day 30, and Day 90 of oral daily probiotic/postbiotic supplementation (ODPPS). This study investigates the impact of oral biotic ODPPS on skin microbiota composition using high-resolution long-read sequencing. DNA was extracted and sequenced using the PacBio Sequel platform to generate long-read 16S rRNA profiles for comprehensive microbial community analysis. This data supports the findings presented in the manuscript titled “The effect of daily oral probiotic and postbiotic supplementation on the canine skin microbiota: insights from culture-dependent and long-read 16S rRNA gene sequencing methods”, recently accepted in Veterinary Dermatology, Manuscript ID VDE-2024-149.R2. The dataset is intended for reuse in comparative microbiome studies and method development in veterinary microbiology and skin health.
