A comparative geochronological and geochemical investigation was carried out on Carboniferous basalts, Permian andesites, and Triassic gabbros from the Bangxi-Chenxing area of Hainan Island, using LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating, Lu-Hf isotope analysis, major and trace element geochemistry, and Sr-Nd isotope geochemistry. The results reveal that the Carboniferous-Triassic mafic-intermediate igneous rocks serve as records of the Carboniferous-Permian arc-basin system and its Triassic closure in this region. The Bangxi-Chenxing Tectonic Zone separates southern Hainan from northern Hainan, and extends westward to the Songma-Ailaoshan Suture Zone.
