Blurred Cabin Imagery for Passenger Detection in SHRP2 NDS

Project Description Complete characterization of the driver environment includes detection of potential distracting or engaging elements. This project is concerned with developing methods to detect the presence of other passengers in a vehicle to assist in further studies of the impact of passengers on driver behavior. Data Request Scope Blurred cabin images from multiple vehicles. Data Specification Phase 1: A sample of blurred cabin imagery from the complete SHRP2 dataset of all vehicles in the study (~2,500 vehicles). Imagery from two trips from each vehicle will be provided (one during a daylight trip and another from a nighttime trip). Each image can be tied to a particular vehicle ID. No time-series data are provided for these trips. Phase 2: The full event detail table from InSight, and additional blurred cabin imagery from 500 vehicles (during both day and night; similar to the first phase) that contains a variety of passenger numbers.
