Two Winogradsky Columns were constructed from the University of Strathclyde burn. A control column and a column supplemented with Molybdate were created. The columns were homogenised and metagenomic analysis was carried out using WGS sequencing on an Ion Torrent PGM Sequencer. It was hypothesised that the column containing Molybdate should be enriched with nitrate reducing bacteria.
