Laser Ablation ICP-MS and Stable Isotope Data from Impact of preservative medium and oxidative cleaning on the trace element geochemistry and stable isotope composition of modern foraminifera (Paleoceanography & Paleoclimatology)
收藏资源简介:
The datasets herein include the raw and processed LA-ICP-MS spectral files for each individual shell and stable isotope values of pooled, multi-shell analyses as part of the study Impact of preservative medium and oxidative cleaning on the trace element geochemistry and stable isotope composition of modern foraminifera published in the journal Paleoceanography & Paleoclimatology. LA-ICP-MS data was processed using the Python package LA-Tools (Branson et al., 2019) which follows established data reduction protocols (Longerich et al., 1996). Data processing protocols include despiking and signal smoothing to remove outliers, evaluating and applying any necessary drift correction using the bracketing SRM analyses, and removing average background counts from each data point. One zip file folder (ending in “forallTEs”) contains the raw and processed LA-ICP-MS files that were calibrated using NIST 610 and NIST 612 SRMs, to determine the elemental composition for all trace elements except for Na. The second zip folder (ending in “forNaCa”) contains raw and processed LA-ICP-MS files for the same shells, except the data was calibrated using NIST 610 and the USGS standard MACS-3; files from this folder should only be used to interpret the Na/Ca data. Each csv file included in the folders is for a single shell in which one or more pits were ablated into each chamber. When plotting the data from a single file, you will find multiple sections separated by a gap which equates to the background signal when the laser was not ablating the shell. Each section within a given file represents a single ablated pit. Each file also contains Jupyter source file which shows how the data was processed. In addition to the processed spectral files contained in the .zip folders, the supplemental datasets referenced in the manuscript can be downloaded as well: \Dataset 1. The shell average trace element composition for each shell examined in this study. Metadata includes the name of the laser file for each shell, the experimental treatment the shell underwent, and the Ba/Ca (umol/mol), Mg/Ca (mmol/mol), Mn/Ca (umol/mol), Na/Ca (mmol/mol), Sr/Ca (mmol/mol), and Zn/Ca (umol/mol) shell average composition. \Dataset 2. The stable isotope (δ13C and δ18O) compositions of pooled shells (2-4 shells/analysis) from the same preservative experiment group. Units are in ‰ VPDB.\ Files and variables File: Dataset_1_Shell_TE_Ca_Averages.xlsx Description: The shell average trace element composition for each shell examined in this study.
