To demonstrate the occurrence of chromoanagenesis in Populus trees produced from irradiated pollen, 9 samples were selected for Illumina genomic sequencing (coverage 25-50). The sequencing reads were used to observe and validate novel DNA breakpoints, which could be used to determine the presence of clustered chromosomal rearrangement.
