Development of Aluminium-Based Lewis Acids as Catalysts for Organic Transformations

The main focus of this thesis is to explore structural modifications of one of our published achiral aluminium based Lewis acid complexes in order to prepare a series of new chiral complexes. The ability of these complexes to catalyse challenging asymmetric organic transformations are then investigated. Further, attempts to widen the applications of the published achiral system to catalyse new, under-investigated organic reactions are also reported.
