Environmental Ordinance- Lower Germanic Limes

The Reich designates the Gelderse parts of the Lower Germanic Limes (Article 7.3 BKL). Through the Provincial Regulation, the buffer zones are designated directly around them on the basis of the UNESCO Nomination File Lower Germanic Limes. To the extent that an environmental plan applies to sites within the buffer zone of the Lower Germanic Limes, the environmental plan lays down rules in the interest of maintaining and strengthening the core qualities of Lower Germanic Limes. The core qualities of the Lower Germanic Limes are forts (castella), civilian settlements, camp villages (vici) grave fields, the military infrastructure, consisting of roads, water works and watchtowers and shipwrecks. This file was adopted on 15 November 2023 by the Provincial States and entered into force on 1 January 2024 under the Environmental Law.
