Discovery of a rodent hepacivirus in the Brazilian Amazon

Monitoring viral species from samples obtained from wildlife hosts, whether in close contact with humans or not, enables the prevention and control of epizootic events, outbreaks, and even epidemics involving these viruses. To contribute to this effort, we employed the metagenomics approach to study the diversity of RNA viruses in rodents and marsupials from Viseu, a municipality in eastern Brazilian Amazon.
