X-Ray Imaging Telescope: Balloon Data from INPE, in Brazil

This set contains 20 minutes of data obtained by 35 NaI detectors (TOTAL AREA of approx. 280 sq. cm) flown on the imaging telescope TIMAX. It is stored in 64 kbyte binary files. Each file has all the digitized spectra of each detector. Each detector is coupled to a photomultiplier and the output pulses are height-analyzed in 32 channels covering the nominal energy range of 30-100 Kev. The coded mask technique employed in this experiment allows imaging observations with an angular resolution of approximately 2 degrees in a 10 degrees x 10 degrees field of view, which is defined by a collimator placed in front of the detector system. Due to the fact that astronomical X-Ray background varies with (Earth) geographic coordinates, the pertinent measurements are located in South America.
