This harbour seal prey reference sequence database is a product of the iterative process of adding prey sequences based on the representative sequences of clustered MiSeq data from each successive scat sequencing run. The database started by searching Genbank for 16S sequences using a list of local fish species, and then the clustering processes for each sequencing run added additional species or haplotypes to the database over time.
