资源简介:

This project investigated the effect of surfactant chemistry and concentration on the initial adhesion of Marinobacter hydrocarbonoclasticus at the interface of dodecane droplets suspended in water, investigating both the time-dependent adhesion of bacteria at the dodecane/water interface and the dependence of adhesion on droplet size and surfactant concentration. The dataset contains z-stack images (.tiff) for three different drop sizes at different time intervals, and z-stack images (.tiff) for two different drop sizes at different surfactant concentrations. The data analyzed consists of: (a) normalized drop diameter as a function of inner to outer fluid flow rates in microfluidic device; (b) number of cells as a function of time; (c) time constant of adhesion as a function of drop diameter; (d) orientation distribution of cells at dodecane/water interface for three drop sizes; (e) cell areal density as a function of surfactant concentration; (f) interfacial tension as a function of surfactant concentration; (g) cell areal density as a function of interfacial tension; and (h) zeta potential of emulsion droplets. This dataset is associated with GRIIDC dataset R5.x285.000:0008 which includes images (.bmp) for dodecane-in-water emulsions prepared using co-flow microfluidic device and pendant drop movies (.avi files) at different surfactant concentrations for the dodecane/water system. This dataset supports the publication: Dewangan, N. K., & Conrad, J. C. (2018). Adhesion of Marinobacter hydrocarbonoclasticus to Surfactant-Decorated Dodecane Droplets. Langmuir, 34(46), 14012–14021. doi:10.1021/acs.langmuir.8b02071
