A DEEP XMM NEWTON OBSERVATION OF PSR J0250+5854\: THE SLOWEST RADIO PULSAR

We propose a deep XMMNewton campaign to observe PSR J0250+5854, a radio pulsarwith the longest spin period known at 23.5 s. The rotational parameters of thepulsar suggest that it could be related to the X ray Dim Isolated Neutron Stars(XDINSs), which are believed to be descendants of magnetars. The observationswill constrain the thermal emission of PSR J0250+5854 down to the properties ofthe faintest XDINS known. If any Xray emission is detected, this will be thefirst radio emitting XDINS, unifying the two different manifestations of neutronstars. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
