Elevated Plus Maze. Male mice 3 months old were used for this experiment. The apparatus consisted of a central zone (5 x 5 cm), two open arms (30 x 5 cm) and two closed arms (30 x 5 cm) surrounded by transparent acrylic glass walls (15 cm height). The maze was elevated 40 cm above the floor. The illumination was set to ~150 lux. The animal was placed in the center of the arena and allowed to explore the maze for 5 min. The animal activity was tracked automatically by the Noldus EthoVision XT 8 system.
