Responses of the soil bacterial community, resistome, and mobilome to a decade of annual exposure to macrolide antibiotics

The goals of this study were to characterize the response of the soil bacterial community, resistome, and mobilome to a decade of annual exposure to macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin, clarithromycin, and azithromycin) at an environmentally realistic dose (0.1 mg kg-1) and an unrealistically high dose (10 mg kg-1). The results of this study will provide insights into the management of levels of macrolide antibiotics within the environment, in the contexts of antibiotic resistance and the diversity of the soil bacterial community.
