Here, we determined the genome sequence of an stx-negative derivate of the STEC O104:H4 outbreak strain C227-11. Using this isogenic variant of the classical outbreak clone, we were able to perform phenotypic experiments for characterizing virulence traits of O104:H4 associated with vesicles. For comparison, we again sequenced the STEC O104:H4 outbreak strain LB226692.
